The mysterious man goes swimming in a lake with the boy. It's pleasant, but his fear of others soon takes hold. Meanwhile, Anya makes a new friend, but their friendship is disrupted by the same kind of fear.

Arriving at the boy's camp near the lake, the mysterious man helps himself to food and beer and decides to have a nap. At the same time, Theresa invites Rodney Figgar over for a meal, during which the adults have an important conversation concerning Jamie.

Deep into the night, the mysterious man has a conversation with the boy, at gunpoint. By the end of this episode Barry Heller is calling himself Alice, as he makes his way from Bristol to Dartmoor.
